Well, we leave tomorrow to take Kevin to check in and get ready for leaving. This will be our last night we get to spend with eachother until after Thanksgiving, but this weekend has been perfect. We have been able to see my godmother, mom, and sister all wanting to wish Kevin the best of luck, and have spent every waking moment together. Friday Kevin got back from the valley and treated me to a very nice dinner at Red Lobster. We went back home and caught up on all the shows we had missed from last week (gotta love DVR!) Saturday we were truly bums! We went and saw Eagle Eye (we are big Shia LaBeouf fans!) then we went to Target to get a few last minute items Kevin needed for basics. After that we laid around the house watching movies, one of which was P.S. I Love You. Probably the worst movie we could have watched right as he is getting ready to leave but it is one of our favorites.
As it gets closer to Kevin leaving I try to just keep pushing it out of my mind. I have no idea how I will react Tuesday morning as he boards the plane. Some days I am okay and don't even think about it, others I seem to cry all day long. Once he leaves Tuesday I will get a phone call when he makes it to Philledelphia, then I wont hear his voice for about 4-5 weeks. They will send a letter letting me know he made it safely, and the address I can send mail to. I hear that recieving mail there is like Christmas morning, so please take a little time to write him and just let him know he is in your thoughts and prayers.

The Future
This week has been a fairly emotional one for the both of us. Kevin will be leaving for basic training September 30th and will be gone for 8 weeks. He has been in the valley this whole week, which has given me the opportunity to see what it is going to be like not having him around, the only difference is I have been able to talk to him on the phone every day but while he is in training we will only be able to write letters to eachother.
As much as Kevin tries to hide his emotions I know this is going to be just as hard for him. He went to see his grandfather a lot while he was in the valley, and told me how his grandpa just cried and hugged him. I could hear Kevin holding back as if there was a knot in his throat, and it was then that I realized this is much bigger than just Kevin and I.
What makes things so much more difficult is the fact that Kevin will return for 5 days, then will be sent to wherever it is that we will end up living. We still wont know for probably another 6 weeks or so. We know we will not be in Texas, and will be in either North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, or Deleware. Kevin will more than likely be leaving around December 2nd (sometime during the first week of December) to move up there. I will have to finish up school, then I will be leaving on December 15th. The drive is about 22 hours from where we are, and we will be making it seperately since we have to be there at different times (looks like our christmas gift to eachother will be a GPS!)
So besides Kevin leaving for basic training, what else will be appearing in the near future for the O'Connors you may be asking... Well, I will be graduating from Texas A&M December 13, 2008! (FINALLY!!!) I will also be looking foward to Thanksgiving break since this will be when I get to fly to New Jersey for Kevin's Coast Guard graduation. I have not been on a plane by myself ever, and I have not been on a plane since March of 2001!! I know it is going to be hard being all alone on Thanksgiving, but seeing KEvin first thing Friday morning will make everything worth it!!
Please stay posted, once I find out about our future with the Coast Guard I will let you know!

Being a Newlywed
Alot has happened since the night of our wedding. We spent four days at South Padre Island, then had to return for Kevin to go back to work and for me to go back to school.0 My car broke down the day we got back, the pipe under our kitchen sink busted and flooded the kitchen/bathroom/living room/bedroom, our television stopped working, and we did not have air conditioning for one week! My mom tried to explain this to me as something that will help build character... but at this point I think Kevin and I have plenty!!
On the brighter side... we have enjoyed every second of being married! We have a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom duplex with a loft study in College Station. It is way more room than we need at this point, but we got a good deal (thanks Shelley Major!) Kevin has made such a huge effot to help with everything from putting away our new Fiesta Ware to washing and folding towels. He makes me so happy, and I can not imagine what my life would be like without him.
